The sitting was organized by the Committee together with the Ministry for Family, Youth and Sports, National Public Association "Children´s Protection Service".
Pursuant to the Decree of the President of Ukraine, Year 2008 is declared a year of support of national adoption and other forms of family upbringing of orphans and children devoid of parental care.
The attendants of the sitting drew attention to the issues concerning national and international adoption and their practice.
Liudmyla Volynets, Director of the Department in charge of adoption and children´s rights protection, presented the Program "Adoption in Ukraine: conditions, problems, prospects".
At present the Parliament is to scrutinize two Bills (Reg. No.1452, No.1453), submitted by the President of Ukraine, which establish one-time State aid by child's adoption that equals the rate of aid paid by child´s birth.
The Committee members informed the attendants of the sitting that O.Bondarenko, the People´s Deputy of Ukraine, submitted the Bill "On Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine appertaining to International Adoption", for parliamentary consideration. The said Bill introduces amendments to the Civil Code of Ukraine appertaining to legal actions of the representative in case a child is adopted by a foreigner. The Bill also supplements the Family Code with regulations regarding activity of foreign non-profit private organizations in charge of adoptions in Ukraine.
The People´s Deputies of Ukraine, representatives of central executive bodies, international funds and public associations attended the sitting.
